Job Description:

The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences, University of Florida, is seeking applications for a multi-track Assistant/Associate Professor in Small Animal Surgery. The successful candidate will be part of an energetic and highly respected small animal surgery team. The primary focus of this position will be in clinical teaching of small animal soft tissue surgery to veterinary students, interns and residents. Development of the candidate’s area of clinical investigation and publication is strongly encouraged. Clinical and research assignments will be determined based on qualifications and on the faculty line that is pursued. Career development is strongly supported at UF, with numerous opportunities for training in research, teaching and leadership available within the college and at the campus level.

Teaching responsibilities will include didactic and clinical training of professional students, graduate students & residents and participation in service activities of the Small Animal Surgery Service in the UF Small Animal Hospital. This facility offers advanced diagnostics such as digital radiography, fluoroscopy-CT, and MRI. The small animal hospital is a state of the art facility offering a full complement of equipment and procedures such as minimally invasive laparoscopic and thoracoscopic surgery, vessel sealing devices (Ligasure, Enseal and Harmonic scalpel), a Neuwave microwave ablation unit, near infrared fluorescence (NIRF) imaging, laser, and a state-of-the-art Catheter lab including a Toshiba, Infinix-I, ceiling mounted C-arm with 360 degree image acquisition. The candidate is welcome and encouraged to participate in our rapidly expanding minimally invasive and interventional radiology services. There is also the potential for fellowship training in minimally invasive soft tissue surgery.

Expected Salary:

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience of the candidate.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants should have a DVM or equivalent degree, completed or are on schedule to complete a residency in small animal surgery and should have experience and strong skills in general and soft tissue surgery.
