CVRC ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGER

Salary:

Minimum $70,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications

Job Summary:

The Cardiovascular Research Center (CVRC) brings together researchers, physicians and educators to focus on ways to prevent and treat cardiac problems through basic research, clinical investigation, diagnosis, treatment, and public education. This position provides leadership in planning, coordinating and managing all operations of the center's research, training and education missions. Responsibilities include policy analysis and development, fostering internal and external relationships, training grant management, directing media communications, and coordination of fundraising efforts. This position reports to Professor Hector Valdivia, the Director of CVRC.

Responsibilities:

Initiates, develops, and implements operational services that support a defined project, program, work unit, or function to advance program goals and objectives. May supervise staff and/or approve unit expenditures.
  • 5% Plans, implements, executes, and evaluates existing strategies and objectives for a program and makes recommendations to unit leadership for program or function enhancement
  • 5% Identifies workflow needs, contributes to the development of strategic and operational solutions, allocates resources, and implements new or revised unit operational policies and procedures
  • 20% Schedules logistics and secures resources for program activities across multiple work units to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and specifications
  • 20% Leads the development and preparation of periodic reports and financial statements, and records progress, status, or other special reports for leadership or external agencies
  • 10% May assist in the development and monitoring of the unit or program budget and approve unit expenditures
  • 20% Contributes to the preparation of proposals for funding and/or funding continuation from outside sponsors
  • 20% Provides administrative support to the T32 Training Grant on Translational Cardiovascular Research. This activity is under the direction of Professor Gail Robertson, Director of the Training Grant.

Education:

Preferred
Bachelor's Degree in business or related field is preferred.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
- Previous administrative experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in higher education administration.
- Previous involvement in administration of research programs or research related activities in an academic environment.
- Experience with program, budgetary, regulatory, and compliance requirements of major funding agencies (i.e., Federal, State, Private, and University System); and current knowledge of funding agencies' policies and procedures.
- Direct experience with NIH T32 training grants, project management, research grant pre- and post-award, contracts, and sponsored research.

Skills and Abilities:
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Independent problem solving and analytical skills.
- Strong skills in leadership, organization, prioritization, and training.
- An outgoing and energetic service-oriented approach.
- Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, university administrators and funding agency representatives.
- The ability to be flexible in work assignments; ability to meet deadlines; independent problem solving and analytical abilities.
