Position Purpose
The DIAD Program Manager is responsible for promoting, enabling, and supporting the Design Initiative at Dartmouth ( DIAD ). The Program Manager will co-create and administer design programming that serves Dartmouth students, faculty, and community. The Program Manager is directly responsible for cultivating relationships, and envisioning and facilitating potential curricular, co-curricular, and research-oriented activities. The position requires that the Program Manager identify, coordinate, and activate human and physical resources among the various components, offices, and centers at Thayer and across Dartmouth. This includes leveraging existing resources and opportunities as well as identifying and activating new relationships and synergistic opportunities to support DIAD programs, while nourishing and maintaining a culture of fun, creative collaboration.
Description
The Design Initiative at Dartmouth ( DIAD ) is a new cross-campus effort whose mission is to elevate and grow the role of design in Dartmouth’s curriculum, scholarship, and culture. Founded at the Thayer School of Engineering, DIAD’s work extends to all corners of campus. We define the term “design” broadly, to include “Human-Centered Design” and also encompass the myriad of design methodologies and disciplines practiced at Dartmouth—in departments ranging from Engineering Sciences to Studio Art, and many disciplines in between. At the heart of DIAD’s mission is the combination of Design Thinking, Engineering, and the Liberal Arts, allowing our students, faculty, and staff to grow their creative confidence by identifying and solving complex challenges facing society. DIAD is particularly committed to promoting equitable and justice-oriented applications of design processes and methods, using design as a tool to combat oppression in all its forms. More about DIAD is at: https://engineering.dartmouth.edu/design/diad
