Reports to: Director of Transfer and Veteran Admissions

Department: Enrollment Management

The Enrollment Management division seeks a self-motivated and team-oriented Transfer Admissions Counselor to contribute to the recruitment efforts of the College. The Transfer Admissions Counselor serves as a primary contact for prospective students and plays an integral role in helping to meet the recruitment and enrollment goals identified by the College’s strategic plan. The Transfer Admissions Counselor builds relationships with community college contacts and community-based organizations. 

Reporting to the Director of Transfer and Veteran Admissions, responsibilities include managing assigned travel territories through extensive regional travel to community colleges and representing the College at college fairs.  Other responsibilities include a strong knowledge and understanding of Manhattan College academic programs, student life offerings, admissions policies and procedures. Participation in campus recruitment events, ability to build relationships and cultivate inquires through to enrolled students, and evaluating undergraduate applications for admission are key responsibilities of the position. The Transfer Admissions Counselor will host in-person and virtual weekly Transfer Tuesday and Thursday appointments with prospective students and their family members, and will also work closely with members of the Financial Aid Staff to provide pertinent information to families applying for financial aid. The Transfer Admissions Counselor will facilitate the transfer credit review process, and support the Director of Transfer and Veteran Admissions with organizing and planning ongoing efforts toward the creation of additional articulation agreements. 

The Transfer Admissions Counselor must have the capability to see the big picture and understand divisional goals and prioritize their work accordingly. Additionally, they must be able to work independently and take initiative on projects, as well as to see projects through from inception through completion. Flexibility, willingness to travel and to work evenings and weekends are a must. 

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Transfer and Veteran Admissions.

Qualifications:

  • One to three years of admissions experience. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent writing and public speaking skills.  
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with community colleges and community organizations to support prospective student pathways  
  • Enthusiastic personality, strong problem solving skills and attention to detail are essential.  
  • Experience working with military connected students is preferred.
  • Experience creating promotional marketing material is a plus
  • Valid driver’s license.  
  • Ability to travel daily and work weekends and evenings.  
  • Preference will be given in the evaluation process to candidates with prior experience working in an undergraduate admissions office.  
  • SLATE, Banner and Argos experience strongly preferred.

Education Required/Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred.
