Essential Functions (Job Duties)
The Ideal Research Assistant and Communications Specialist, in support of the State Oversight Academy, will research and write oversight briefs and other communications about developments in the oversight field in Congress, around the United States, and overseas.
Research, write, and edit content to support the Levin Center's media, online, and public relations efforts.
Research and write summaries of oversight related databases and academic articles to make them usable for practitioners and the public.
Serve as Levin Center's in-house information science/database expert, assisting the Associate Director with efforts to assemble, interpret, and market the Center's growing collection of data and resources relevant to oversight and related topics.
Research, write, and edit content for the Levin Center's Learning by Hearings program.
Research and write new entries in the Levin Center's Portraits in Oversight online series.
Conduct research on various oversight issues as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Unique Duties
Qualifications
Graduate degree in social science or history and or library or information science preferred.
Experience conducting social science or historical research, including archival research, and writing and editing materials for use by scholars, oversight practitioners, and the public required. Experience in digital curation and preservation of historical documents, website design, and grant writing preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent research, writing, and editing skills required. Expertise preserving, coding, and organizing archival material and developing curated databases for use by professional researchers required.
