Job Summary :
Responsible for instruction students to prepare them with skills sets need for a successful career in the hospitality industry for both transfer or career and technical degrees
Essential Functions :
- Demonstrate skill and/or knowledge in teaching discipline
- Demonstrate a knowledge of the community college philosophy and mission and contribute to the development of the mission, goals and objectives of the college, division and department
- Prepare, apply, deliver, and enforce instructional activities to prepare students with skills sets needed for a successful career in the hospitality industry in compliance with the national food code, federal, state, and local policies, laws and regulations
- Teach a variety of times. Locations and instructional methods (i.e. day, evening, weekend, face-to-face, virtual, LVL, and hybrid) for a variety of Hospitality Management classes including for Restaurant and Hotel Operations, Event and Catering Management in food safety, sanitation, and risk management for transfer or career and technical degree in a variety of campus locations
- Utilize and make continuous effort to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing a variety of delivery methods and innovative techniques and methodologies to assists students in meeting the course objectives and which are appropriate for students with differing educational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles
- Create a learning environment that is accessible, inclusive and equitable and prepares students for a globally diverse community and society and support college functions/cultural activities that support the placement of students
- Utilize a variety of class level assessment measures to asses student, institutional, and career and technical learning outcome in a timely manner
- Develop and utilize course syllabus as specified within district, discipline and department guidelines and submit copy to Division Chair and Coordinator, if applicable
- Keep accurate attendance and student records and submit related reports and forms within the requested deadlines
- Use and operate equipment and faculties in a safe, effective and responsible manner and assists in overall cleanliness, functionality and routine maintenance when appropriate
- Demonstrate competence and interests in the use of technology in the classroom, and as employed by the district, division or department
- Participate in district, campus, division, or department assessment measures
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Establish and maintain professional and effective working relationships
- Perform physical and marginal functions appropriate to assigned duties which may include standing, walking, sitting extended periods, lifting and carrying, general manual dexterity, operating assigned equipment and extended exposure to computer screens
- Perform other similar duties as assigned
Master’s degree in Hospitality Management
OR
Master’s degree in any field(s) with 18 GCH in a combination of the qualifying fields.
