JOB DESCRIPTION

The Director of the UIndy Alumni Association is responsible for managing the planning and execution of engagement strategies, events, promotions, communications, volunteer opportunities, and social media for the UIndy Alumni Association. The Director works collaboratively and proactively with the Alumni Board of Directors and all University departments and programs - especially the Professional Edge Center, Marketing & Communications, and Development – to raise the social capital of the entire University network of alumni, students, and community members.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervise volunteer management for the Alumni Board of Directors, alumni events, alumni mentoring, alumni reunions, and one student employee
  • Design and execute programs that help engage alumni across the entire scope of the association
  • Using the new CASE guidance for alumni engagement metrics, the Director will work with the Vice President to design metrics to track the success of the program and what improvements are needed
  • Manage all alumni program aspects of the annual Homecoming celebration
  • Manage alumni involvement in all major University events
  • Work closely with University Advancement Office and Greyhound Club, along with other campus partners, to ensure goals and objectives are aligned with Universitys overall alumni planning
  • Coordinate all details relative to events and promotions presented by the Office of Alumni Engagement
  • Draft and send all mass email communication that comes from the Office of Alumni Engagement in collaboration with the Marketing & Communications Manager for Advancement and Vice President
  • Assists the Vice President in staffing the Alumni Board of Directors
  • Manage volunteer engagement for events, works with the Professional Edge Center and departments across campus to help meet their needs for alumni volunteers as mentors, classroom presenters, mock interview participants, panel speakers, and more
  • Update and maintain the Alumni Association Facebook and Twitter pages
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors Degree required
  • 2-3 years of professional experience in higher education or applicable experience working with an association or club-type organization
  • Experience with Raiser's Edge or a similar constituent management database
  • Experience with Delivra or a similar email distribution platform
  • Experience with Sprout Social or similar social media platforms
  • Communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to work collaboratively and courteously with colleagues throughout the University, alumni, other constituents and the public
  • Demonstrated ability to strategize, implement and build constituency programs and activities, along with a talent for motivating volunteers
  • Strong writing, planning, and organizational skills
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines
  • Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed
