Reporting to the Executive Director of the COCC Foundation, the Charitable Giving Officer serves as a member of the Foundation team to help lead a comprehensive major gifts program. Responsible for planning and implementing efforts to steward existing major donors and cultivate new major and planned gift prospects, oversee major gifts, planned giving, and all stewardship programs affiliated donors and prospective donors. The Charitable Giving Officer is engaged in community events and meetings promoting institutional priorities, goals, and objectives.

Terms of Employment:
  • This is a 12-month exempt position at pay level 26 in the Administrative salary schedule.
  • Requires flexible work schedule, which may include evenings and/or weekends as well as travel throughout the district.
  • COCC is currently implementing a remote work policy/procedure so partial work from home arrangements may be possible for this position.
  • Requires the provision of official transcripts upon hire.
  • COCC employees must work and reside in the state of Oregon at the time their work is being performed.

  • Effective Monday, April 18, 2022, COCC implemented a COVID -19 vaccination requirement for all employees, including benefited employees, part-time faculty, and temporary workers such as irregular wage, work study and community education. Essential Functions:
Community Outreach:
  1. Plan and execute targeted events in support of major and planned giving program.
  2. Build, promote and manage network of relationships with prospective donors. Serve as primary fundraiser to promote institutional priorities.
  3. Cultivate and solicit gifts from alumni and friends and accompany others on cultivation and solicitation visits.
  4. Create, manage, and distribute a suite of marketing material resources, both print and electronic, in support of the Foundation’s fundraising goals in major and planned giving.


Goal Setting and Strategic Planning:
  1. Develop and manage a portfolio of prospective and current donors with measurable outcomes for activities monitoring progress toward the annual and multi-year major gift goals. Monitor development efforts related to donor stewardship, prospect development, and the solicitation strategy for planned and major giving efforts.
  2. Assist with setting fundraising goals and development strategies to align with College and Foundation priorities, includes assisting with the development of a comprehensive annual major giving and planned giving action plan.
  3. Continuously update the Foundation’s planned giving program using the existing Heritage Society (planned giving society) as the beacon of support.

Metrics and Analysis:
  1. Continuously update and document all records in the database to assure proper recording and tracking of gifts and information. Produce reports from the donor database to guide future planning decisions, including the incorporation of moves management and other high-level functions.
  2. Develop metrics and analysis to evaluate specific strategies for qualifying, cultivating and soliciting significant contributions in support of the College’s and Foundation’s mission and vision.
  3. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.

Physical Demands and Other Ergonomic Requirements:
Incumbent must be able to function effectively indoors in an office environment engaged in work of primarily a sedentary nature. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms. Requires near visual acuity to write, read written materials and computer screens, and sufficient hearing and speech ability for telephonic or in person conversations. A certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties occasional lifting up to 25-lbs. Regular office hours are established between 8 am – 5 pm during the workweek. A flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends, and travel locally, regionally, and nationally is necessary due to the nature of the responsibilities.

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or related field.
  2. Five years of professional level experience in high-level fundraising, planned gift management, and/or nonprofit development with a demonstrated track record of soliciting, closing and stewarding major gifts.

Licenses:
