Washburn University’s Mabee Library invites applications for an Instructional Librarian—Health Science focused . The University Libraries seeks applicants who enjoy working in a student success-focused environment for this 12-month, full-time position with an annual base salary of $49,800.

Each selected candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to pursuing teaching excellence at Washburn University, including a dedication to developing inclusive teaching practices that engage students from diverse backgrounds.

Required Qualifications:
  • An ALA-accredited master’s degree in Library or Information Science by January 2023.
  • Experience or course work that demonstrates familiarity with ACRL Standards for Libraries in Higher education.
  • Demonstrated commitment to developing inclusive teaching practices that engage students from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • An additional master’s degree in any subject taught at Washburn University.
  • Demonstrated experience in reference/library instruction and teaching by course work or classroom experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
  • Support Health Science focused Washburn First-Year Experience and Information Literacy classes and develop programming to engage students and promote Mabee Library resources and Information Literacy at Washburn University.
  • Serve as a subject matter liaison responsible for collection development and building relationships with assigned departments. Evening and some weekend hours are required.
  • Teach and co-teach classes as assigned, provide effective reference service, and demonstrate a strong commitment to student learning and the delivery of instruction.
