As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University’s Ancilla College seeks applicants for an Admissions Counselor. Working closely with the Director of Admissions, the Academic Counselor will promote Marian University’s Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by attracting, recruiting, and enrolling qualified students. Admissions staff are required to be outstanding communicators, effective promoters of Marian University Ancilla College, and efficient managers of multiple information systems. The Admissions Counselor must be professional, prompt, and personable to visitors, students, parents, local school officials, and staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Actively engages the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values, honoring the legacy of the founding congregation, promoting unity in diversity, and integrating the Catholic Franciscan intellectual traditions in courses, programs, and services.
  • Contact public, private, and charter high schools; participate in presentations and college information visitations; support college awareness and visits for high school and 8th grade students to MUAC.
  • Engages in recruiting efforts via college counseling and speaking appointments at schools, community organizations, religious teen organizations, public relations events, and other events or venues prospective students and parents gather.
  • Development of relations with prospective students and parents via phone, mail, and campus visits; ensures for continued contact via email, mail, and calls as appropriate.
  • Responsible for making +250 phone calls weekly to perspective students/families, accepted students and enrolled students.
  • Actively participates in the implementing and execution of a comprehensive admission, marketing, and communication plan.
  • Assists with the planning of recruiting initiatives, interviewing of prospective students and review of applications.
  • Pleasantly and consistently communicate the holistic educational benefits and values of Marian University’s Ancilla College through personal interaction, email, telephone, and supporting communication.
  • Advising students about various programs and courses available at Marian University’s Ancilla College and the career opportunities associated with them.
  • Coordinates recruitment efforts; arranges visits and tours for prospective students and parents; helps develop and carry out recruitment plan for interested students.
  • Assist with organizing orientation and other events for newly recruited students and guiding them through the various processes involved.
  • Professionally representing Marian University’s Ancilla College at different college fairs and networking events.
  • Add and update student recruitment and admissions data as needed within the student information system.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: 
  • Knowledge of offerings and commitment to the mission of Marian University’s Ancilla College.
  • Excellent customer service, presentation, verbal/written communication, and organization skills.
  • The ability to interact effectively with students, parents, faculty, staff, and external constituents.
  • A high level of energy, self-motivated, and results-oriented.
  • The ability to think critically and solve complex problems.
  • A high degree of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Understanding of and belief in Marian University’s Ancilla College vision, mission, and guiding principles.
  • Ability to work well with individuals with diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of marketing and sales techniques and human relations and personnel practices.
  • Prior admissions experience with high school and young adults preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening and weekend engagements.
  • Demonstrated skills and belief in facilitative, participate management, and shared decision-making including integrity, honesty, and sensitivity.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and database management systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • A valid driver’s license without restriction.
