ASSISTANT COACH STRENGTH & CONDITIONING

The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach will work with the head coach to coordinate all aspects of the strength and conditioning programs for competitive intercollegiate sports to include coaching and teaching effective technique and training. The assistant coach is responsible for ensuring compliance with NCAA, Conference, and Ithaca College rules and regulations, establishing appropriate competitive and developmental goals and objectives for each season. Working with the head coach, the assistant coach will be responsible for the following.

1. Assist with Planning, directing, and conducting in-season and where appropriate and permissible non-traditional and post-season team and individual athlete strength and conditioning programs.

2. Assist with design instructions for individual student athletes and for specific team needs, and teach proper skills, skill development, and leadership concepts to student athletes.

3. Develop, demonstrate, and promote multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating an inclusive, diverse and respectful College community. Demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion as a college priority, communicate to employees an expectation of behavior that is civil and inclusive when interacting with all staff, faculty, students and visitors and promote a flexible, collaborative and inclusive work and living environment.

5. Assist with Oversight and the promotion of student athlete safety and well being in all training sessions, conditioning activities, practice activities and competitions. Provide student athletes with instruction regarding physical health and safety.

10. Attend and participate in appropriate national or regional level coaching clinics and/or conventions to improve and increase overall knowledge of training and coaching techniques as appropriate.

13. Assist and collaborate respectively with the appropriate athletics administrators creating practice and training schedules.

15. Assist with identifing problems and/or concerns regarding athletic facilities and work with the Associate Director of Athletics or other athletics administrators in an attempt to resolve facility-related concerns, especially those involving safety issues.

18. Attend all scheduled staff meetings, unless excused by immediate supervisor.

22. Perform other related duties in concert with established work-load percentages.

Bachelor's degree and some coaching experience; knowledge of and interest in strength and conditioning, ability to cultivate an inclusive, diverse and welcoming environment; ability to treat all people equitably and with a sensitivity and awareness to cultural difference; demonstrated ability to hold others accountable for behavior that is supportive of a community that is diverse and inclusive; extensive knowledge of various word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications, excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, and strong attention to detail are required.
