Job Description

Faculty member/administrator who serves as an instructional leader and manages the instructional and operational processes of the nursing department. In addition to teaching, a Department Chair's major responsibilities include, but are not limited to, personnel supervision; course and program development; and functions related to the planning and scheduling of course offerings. This position is for a 12-month appointment. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain an environment conducive to the teaching and learning process;
  • Provide leadership within the faculty for the development and implementation of the curriculum, including visioning for future programming and innovative curricular development;
  • Provide oversight for course scheduling and faculty workloads;
  • Contribute to faculty and staff recruitment review and development;
  • Conduct faculty performance evaluation;
  • Teach a reduced course load as determined by the programmatic needs of the college; and
  • Maintain relationships and represent the program within local, state, and regional organizations and committees.


Required Qualification/Experience/Skills/Abilities:
  • Education - earned doctorate in Public Health or a doctorate in a related discipline in Health Science from an accredited university;
  • 2 or more years of teaching experience;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Basic computer skills;
  • Ability to promote an effective environment for learning in lecture and lab experiences; and
  • Ability to teach students from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.


Preferred Qualifications/Experience/Skills/Abilities:
  • Experience in an undergraduate program.
  • Eligibility for tenure track and for rank at the Associate Professor level at the time of hire.
  • Evidence of successful teaching and knowledge of learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, administration, and evaluation.
  • Experience with distance and/or hybrid education.
  • Experience developing new programs and working with healthcare partners.
  • Knowledge of online delivery methods, principles and techniques
