Position Summary:
Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Dean of Graduate Admissions serves as the leader and manager of the newly-formed Office of Graduate Admissions, and is responsible for the outreach, acquisition and matriculation of graduate students for all graduate programs, across the University in order to meet established goals. The Dean is responsible for the development of enrollment strategies, recruitment plans, prospective student communications, financial aid leveraging, reporting, corporate and partner development, as well as evaluation and assessment of plans and tactics.
In addition to directly managing the lead team members, the Dean also oversees programs to train, supervise, evaluate and retain an effective admission staff. The Dean also establishes office policies with the support of the lead team and ensures that best practices are developed and consistently evaluated. The position is expected to effectively collaborate with faculty and staff to successfully meet goals, and work closely with program directors and deans, along with undergraduate admission deans to ensure that best practices are consistently and cooperatively executed across the University.

JOB DUTIES
- Works closely with the AVP of Admissions Marketing on the
creation of strategic recruitment publications, student search, and
digital promotion.
- Oversees effective strategies for development and execution of
direct marketing and database messaging.
- Creates application evaluation protocols and standards, and
works with faculty, deans and operations staff to implement and
ensure accuracy and timeliness of file reading and decision release
process.
- Works with the academic deans, to develop strategies for
communications and relations with corporate, community, and
education partners to develop cohort and affinity
programs.
- Oversees effective management of admissions data systems, data
integrity, application management, as well as effective
reporting.
- Consistently monitors market and trend data to inform
recruitment and admission strategies and enrollment
goals.
- Plans and oversees development of effective prospective virtual
and in-person student engagement opportunities.
- Works closely with academic deans, the CFO and Vice President
of Enrollment to develop financial aid leveraging models and
ensures that the Office of Financial Aid effectively implements the
models.
- Administers and manages the department personnel structure,
positions, training and development of staff for high performance;
develops key performance indicators for graduate recruitment and
admission staff.
- Works with deans and marketing for the effective launch of new
academic programs. Evaluates market potential and makes
recommendations for program reform or sunsetting.
- Works with University offices, including the Office of
International Education, University Housing, the Office of
Financial Aid, Student Accounts, and the University Registrar in
the recruitment, enrollment, and retention of graduate
students.
- Develops policies and creates a culture of diversity, equity
and inclusion that enables effective intercultural communications,
along with a positive understanding of difference.
- Responsibly plans and tracks the Graduate Office of Admission
budget and communicates budgetary needs and changes throughout the
annual cycle.
- Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in nonprofit
management, counseling, or public administration or equivalent
preferred.
- Minimum of eight years experience in college admission
operations including experience in the management and supervision
of others required.
- Has extensive knowledge of University programs, policies, and
procedures, specifically those programs and the benefits of such
programs relative to the University's admission process.
- Knowledge of and ability to execute admission-related direct
marketing.
- Ability to effectively interact with a wide variety of people
in a manner that positively portrays the University and its
programs.
- Ability to develop, implement, and manage a budget.
- Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing,
including the ability to effectively describe programs and the
benefits.
- Ability to execute those physical activities required to
perform the essential functions including, but not limited to,
regular standing, sitting, and being mobile; continual talking and
hearing both in person and on the telephone; frequent keyboarding;
regular seeing; and all other activities required to perform
essential functions.
- Ability to work independently as well as establish and maintain
harmonious relations with other staff, faculty and
students.
- Ability to reside in Oregon by the first day of employment or
otherwise perform work primarily in Oregon.
