Institution Research Analyst

The Institutional Research Analyst (IRA) prepares and communicates accurate and timely responses to internal and external data requests using statistical software to formulate database queries, design and produce data tables/charts, presentations, dashboards and reports. The IRA also assists in the generation of data analysis to support the academic and administrative functions of the University and strategic initiatives. The Institutional Research Analyst will also partner with campus departments to administer university-wide surveys as well as complete and submit mandated/compliance reports/surveys. The Analyst is required to work in-person, on-campus on a regular basis.

The Institutional Research Analyst reports to the Director of Institutional Research.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with campus offices (example: Campus Life, Title IX) to plan and administer cyclical surveys as well as disseminate survey findings

  • Create, develop and maintain queries and databases related to mandated and/or compliance reports and/or surveys and/or cyclical data requests (example: University Fact Book, NCAA)

  • Respond to ad-hoc requests from faculty, staff, and administrators within the University

  • Collect, assemble and merge data from multiple sources (including surveys) to perform statistical analysis using multiple analytic procedures

  • Serve on committees, working groups or project teams and contribute as an active member of the Drew community

  • Monitor emerging issues in higher education through environmental scanning and participation in national organizations

  • Actively participate in external professional groups, including NJAIR and NEAIR

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
  • A Master’s degree in social science/computer science/analytics/education or related field

  • Minimum three to five years of professional experience in higher education, research, statistics, data analytics or a related field

  • Some knowledge of building queries and extracting data from relational databases using SQL

  • Data management experience

Desired Skills and Experiences:
  • Demonstrated ability to use SPSS or similar statistical package to manipulate data and conduct statistical analyses

  • Working knowledge of Qualtrics

  • Working knowledge of Ellucian Banner

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Experience presenting data and ideas to diverse audiences

  • Experience administering and/or coordinating survey activities

  • Ability to prioritize projects

  • Be a self-starter
