Position Description

Seattle University’s Lemieux Library and McGoldrick Learning Commons seeks a creative and collaborative Health Sciences librarian to support our highly ranked College of Nursing, Pre-Health, and Kinesiology programs.

We seek individuals with a passion for working with undergraduate and graduate students engaged in the health sciences, as well as the experience or aptitude to collaborate with our active Nursing and health sciences faculty. As a subject liaison, you will have responsibilities to maintain subject expertise, develop collections, provide specialized research services and instruction, and create resource guides for our health sciences programs across campus. As a member of the Research Services Team, you will be expected to provide research assistance to students, staff, faculty, and the wider community through services such as in-person and virtual research consultations. As a member of the Library Faculty, you will contribute to library-wide initiatives by serving on library, campus, and consortial committees, participate in strategic planning initiatives.

This 12-month non-tenure-track position, at the rank of Assistant or Associate Librarian, is available September 1, 2022, and will report to the Director, Research Services. Rank will be determined by the level of experience of the successful candidate. Qualifications

Minimum degree required:

  • MLS (Master of Library Science) from an ALA-accredited program or non-U.S. equivalent.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience providing research/reference services, information literacy instruction, collection development, and/or outreach services, preferably in Nursing and/or the health sciences.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current trends and best practices in academic librarianship and/or health sciences librarianship.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism.
  • Experience working with, or leading, project teams, and communicating effectively across teams.
  • Willingness to support and contribute to the mission, vision, and values of Seattle University.

Desirable qualifications:

  • Undergraduate or advanced degree in a health sciences related field.
  • More than 2 years of experience providing library liaison services to Nursing and/or health sciences programs.
  • Experience with research, scholarly publication, professional development, and service activities in areas appropriate to academic librarianship.
