The Department of Cell and Molecular Physiology at Loyola University Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine ( SSOM ) seeks applicants for a tenure-track position at the ASSISTANT PROFESSOR level.

We seek a colleague whose research focuses on the biology of aging across the lifespan to participate in the newly established Center for Healthy Aging and Resilience Mechanisms ( CHARM ) https://ssom.luc.edu/physio/charm/ . Candidates’ research interests may include foundational mechanisms of aging or translational research in aging. Departmental faculty are actively engaged in diverse aspects of aging research including RNA biology across the lifespan, mechanisms of endocrine signaling in menopause, redox biology, and mechanisms of progression of degenerative disease. Other strengths in the department include cardiovascular biology and cell mechanics. Candidates with research programs in aging that are complementary to those areas are encouraged to apply. Applicants investigating diseases associated with aging may be considered, but only if their research program is directly focused on the process of aging and how mechanisms of aging impact that disease. Applicants focused on aspects of age-related disease not connected to aging mechanisms will not be considered.
Departmental research areas, resources, and facilities are described here: www.stritch.luc.edu/depts/physio . The SSOM is undergoing growth in all of its basic science departments. Laboratory space will be in the state-of-the-art Center for Translational Research and Education ( www.luc.edu/ctre ).
