Position Description Summary/Purpose :

For the Goodwin University Magnet School System, the Marketing and Communications Specialist partners with Goodwin University to develop and maintain institutional branding, manages design workflow, oversees the production process for marketing materials, websites, publications, and promotional materials, and acts as a liaison with printers and other vendors involved in the production process. This position is within the Goodwin University Magnet School System.

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities :

  • Project management (including meeting with Goodwin University and magnet school team members, planning and completing projects, tracking progress of vendors or outside services, presenting to stakeholders, following up with vendors, etc.)
  • Proofreads written content and reviews visual design to ensure magnet school district output aligns with Goodwin Universitys established branding standards.
  • Identify opportunities for system marketing and communication platforms, such as media integrations, e-newsletters, podcasts, social media and website updates
  • Plans and conceptualizes key messaging for student and staff recruitment campaigns.
  • Guides team through creative conceptualization stages.
  • Contribute to the development of the magnet school systems policies and procedures that ensure efficient and organized completion of work.
  • Assists in the management of websites and associated web pages.
  • Assists in the planning and execution of events, conferences, etc.
  • Conducts copy writing and editing for marketing/fundraising/communications.
  • Manages and generates social media content for the magnet school system.
  • Assists superintendent with press inquiries including, but not limited to writing copy and facilitating media communications.
  • Coordinates all aspects of recruitment process including, but not limited to:
    • Constant contact emails
    • Direct mailings
    • Media advertising
    • Other advertising (ie. billboards, banners, factsheets, etc.)
    • Provides data and analysis as related to Google analytics
  • Night and weekend work required to meet magnet school needs.
  • Conducts work in a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed.
Other Functions:
  • Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
  • Participates in professional development and training to keep current with trends.
  • Assists other magnet school staff as needed to promote a team effort.
  • Represents department and/or magnet school system at meetings as needed.

  • Demonstrated commitment to developing and fostering best practices and policies to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, and build an environment in which all members of the magnet school community are treated with respect and dignity.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and organizational ability to ensure production cycles of multiple projects and tight deadlines are met.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and multitask and keep current on quickly changing aesthetic trends and technological advancement.
  • Knowledge of principles and aesthetics of design, marketing, branding, grammar, writing, commercial print and production practices, and branding.
  • Intensive knowledge of various areas of design including layout, illustration, and interactive media as well as knowledge of photography, videography, and video editing.
  • Ability to effectively present ideas both verbally and visually.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and design portfolio.
  • Three (3) plus years of marketing experience
  • Project management experience.
  • Requires high level proficiency of professional design software including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Dreamweaver.
  • Keen knowledge of principles and aesthetics of design, marketing, branding, commercial print and production practices

  • Valid Driver’s License and own insured vehicle
