Content Producer / Writer 998693



Content Producers / Writer are awesome writers. They generate stories and create written content for all of Xavier’s marketing and communication channels. They work with faculty, staff, students and alumni to highlight the Xavier experience and engage all members of the Xavier community. Specifically, Content Producers create stories for the university website, create and edit content on Xavier webpages, craft marketing copy for printed materials, write content for media outlets and public relations, craft communications to internal audiences, generate e-newsletters, assist with content for social media and more. The title is not simply Writer. At Xavier, we look for Content Producers to also take photos, shoot video, support podcasts and more digital elements as all part of a comprehensive way to tell Xavier’s stories. Xavier University is a dynamic community, so Content Producers must be able to work in a fast-paced environment to quickly and creatively share the Xavier experience.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • Creativity – The ability to write in various styles in order to market and communicate in effect ways with various audiences and through a variety of channels. Bonus if you can take photos, make videos, record podcasts, and create other digital media.
  • Ability to work as a team – All of our Content Producers also work with members of our team including Project Managers, Designers, Social Media Coordinators, Videographers, and more, all with the goal of meeting marketing and communications expectations as a team.
  • Any or all experience is welcome. Consideration for recent graduates with thorough internship and other experiences to those writers with many years of experience will be considered.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & SKILLS
  • Generate all forms of marketing content: Contribute to the planning, creation and editing of marketing and advertising efforts – in print and digital - that promote the Xavier experience and brand. This includes content for Xavier’s website, print, media relations, news, social media, and advertising. Working knowledge of digital marketing tools including the Adobe Creative Suite, social media channels, marketing automation platforms, writing for Search Engine Optimization, tools to update web pages, understanding of analytics, and more are important. Content Producers should be able to generate their own photos and video as needed. At the end of the day, a Content Producer must be able to win the hearts and minds of our various audiences, persuading them to act, be engaged, or continue their support for Xavier. The position helps shape Xavier’s brand narrative.
  • High Editorial Standards: As a proofreader, work to ensure our editorial standards are being followed in all areas of story-writing and communications, which means checking for correct style, grammar and strong writing so we maintain the interest of our readers and inspire and stimulate them to get or stay connected to Xavier. Each Content Producer is responsible for supporting other Content Producers by reviewing content to ensure consistency.
  • Share Xavier’s story locally, regionally, and nationally: In support of our local, regional, and national image, the Content Producer will be responsible for generating interest in Xavier stories to various media outlets and be part of a planning team to specifically engage a wide variety of audiences.
