Position Summary:
Willamette University invites applications for the position of Director of Indigenous Partnership Programs. The primary responsibility for this position will be the administration of the Chemawa Indian School Partnership Program, including the teaching of an associated 2-credit course each semester. In this program, enrolled university students attend a weekly service-learning course that introduces students to the history of—and contemporary challenges in—American Indian education, and also commit to tutoring one evening each week at Chemawa. The Director acts as a liaison between the University and Chemawa Indian School, as well as between the University and the Salem-Keizer Indian Education program. The Director also serves on the University's Native American Advisory Board (NAAC).

JOB DESCRIPTION

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Manages Chemawa Indian School-Willamette University Partnership Program and Salem-Keizer Indian Education-Willamette University Partnership.
  
• Develops and supervises WU campus activities and projects; serves as liaison between the university and Chemawa and the university and Salem-Keizer school district.
  
• Teaches one IDS course per term to prepare students for their tutoring/internship experience.
  
• Supervises Willamette undergraduates who tutor or have internships at Chemawa or in the Salem-Keizer Indian Education program; includes recruitment, training, coaching, and evaluation and regular direct oversight in the schools.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree
  
• 2+ years experience working with Native American communities
  
• Ability to work effectively with high school and college students in a variety of educational settings, including a federal Indian boarding school
  
• Ability to reside in Oregon by the first day of employment or otherwise perform work primarily in Oregon
  

Preferred Qualifications

• M.A. or other advanced degree
  
• Experience in Native education
  
• Experience mentoring Native youth and college students
  

Typical Work Schedule

20 hours per week during the academic year (mid-August to mid-May). May include some evening and/or weekend hours.

Salary: $24 per hour
