The NMSU Library seeks to hire two faculty librarians (9-month term) from the pool established from this listing.   The successful candidates will be responsible for the following duties in a variety of formats, including physical, virtual, etc.
• Develop and maintain current awareness of scholarly research trends at peer institutions.
• Assist faculty in locating journal articles from various sources, including open access, to support research initiatives and scholarly publications.
• Coordinate and implement workshops and presentations to support scholarly research.
• Enhance the value and potential of the NMSU Library by aligning strategic objectives of the library and the university strategic goals through support of research activity.
• Provide a broad range of general and in-depth reference services across an interdisciplinary research environment.
• Provide research consultations to faculty and students in multiple and blended academic disciplines.
• Participate in library’s instruction program to provide instruction in the effective use of library resources, appropriate research strategies, critical thinking and information literacy skills.
• Develop research guides and other instructional tools for students and proactively assists faculty with the design of course assignments and their research needs.
• Serve as library liaison to multiple college departments and programs.
• Contribute to the development of new library collections that reflect and support interdisciplinary programs.
• Other duties as assigned.
Visiting Faculty are eligible for standard benefits offered to regular employees. Visiting faculty hired for a 9-month term do not accrue annual or sick leave. Visiting faculty will serve for one full academic term, with the possibility of extending the contract period for another academic term. Moving allowance will be included.
