The Department of in the College of Arts and Sciences ( CAS ) at Loyola University Chicago ( LUC ) invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track position for academic year 2022–23 with a specialty in Dance. This is a lecturer appointment with the possibility of renewal contingent on performance and review. We are a congenial, collaborative program, housed on Loyola’s beautiful lakeside campus. This search is part of a University-wide, multiyear hiring initiative designed to hire outstanding faculty members who are reflective of our diverse student body and committed to interdisciplinarity (i.e., working with colleagues across different subfields and disciplines). This position includes teaching undergraduates in introductory through advanced coursework in Dance. Teaching responsibilities include core courses in Ballet I, Jazz I, or Modern I; Seminars in Dance, Ballet, Modern or Jazz II, Non-western or Inclusive Dance Practices as well additional production and extracurricular faculty mentorship. We are seeking candidates who would lead a new Teaching Artist minor for the Department of Fine and Performing Arts and who can work closely mentor our Dance majors and minors. Qualifications
Candidates for the position must clearly demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching and have a record of distinguished performance and student mentorship. The successful candidate will need the ability to teach a broad range of coursework in an expanding dance program, which is dedicated to transformative education in the Jesuit tradition. A minimum of 4 years of teaching experience at the college/university level and significant professional experience is required. Candidates must hold an MFA or demonstrate equivalent professional experience. Expertise in modernist dance (Graham, Horton, Humphrey/Limon) is valuable. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion is required.

Candidates should demonstrate responsiveness toward and understanding of diverse student backgrounds, especially regarding socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, culture, ability/disability, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
