Visiting Assistant Professor

 

The School of Arts, Technology, and Emerging Communication (ATEC) at the University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor (non-tenure track). ATEC at UT Dallas is a multidisciplinary academic research school with leading-edge programs in critical media studies, emerging media arts, arts and science, and others. We seek candidates with a record of accomplishment in digital media studies to join our faculty for a one-year visiting appointment, with a possible renewal for a second year. Applicants able to teach courses in media theory or media history with expertise in global media or indigenous or ethnic studies are especially welcome. The ideal candidate will have a record of critical scholarship, student-centered teaching, and enthusiasm for engaging a diverse student population.

 

Essential duties include teaching six courses annually at the undergraduate level (with the possibility of graduate level courses); mentoring undergraduate capstone students; and contributing to public-facing programming. We welcome applicants from historically marginalized groups, including Hispanic, Black, Native, and AAPI.

 

We are especially interested in applicants who can contribute to a diverse campus community through their teaching and mentoring. PhD required by July 20, 2022.
