Job Summary:

The Asthma, Allergy and Pulmonary Research team is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with other scientists, nurses and research coordinators to ensure that biological specimens are collected, processed and shipped precisely according to the protocols. This position is a major support of multiple federally funded studies in the research program. In the position the successful candidate will complete complex processing of a variety of biological specimens. It is imperative that the Research Specialist be a team player and have excellent multi-tasking skills.

Responsibilities:

Develops, designs, and conducts one or more research projects and organizes daily operation of projects and specialized research areas to ensure work meets established objectives under moderate supervision.
  • 60% Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results
  • 15% Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area. Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders
  • 10% Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences
  • 10% Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials
  • 5% Provides operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers

Qualifications:

Relevant course work and experience in laboratory research techniques is required.
Knowledge of immunology/cell biology is preferred. Skills with cell culture, microscopy are preferred.
