Salary & Benefits:                     Salary is $46,000 as per the Santa Fe College Salary Schedule. Compensation package is comprised of many college paid benefits including health and life insurance, retirement, leave time, and tuition waivers for Santa Fe College and the University of Florida.

Classification:                            Full-time Faculty, 9-Month Exempt, Liberal Arts & Sciences, Continuing Contact (Tenure Track).

Location:                                    Northwest Campus, 3000 NW 83rd Street, Gainesville, Florida 32606.

This is a full-time, interim, 9-month, tenure track faculty position in the area of high school science, starting Fall 2022. Teaching assignments will include high school Chemistry, as well as other science courses such as Anatomy/Physiology and Physics, as needed. These courses are taught within the college’s High School Dual Enrollment Program. Full-time faculty have a primary nine (9) month contract based on teaching 15 credit hours in the Fall and 15 credit hours in the Spring; teaching opportunities beyond contractual obligations, including during the summer may be available for additional compensation based upon departmental need.

 

Responsibilities and duties include:

  • Plan, organize and teach high school social science coursework that will optimize student access, retention and success.
  • Contact parents regarding academic progress.
  • Attend Parent Night and/or College Night.
  • Collaborate with other faculty and staff within the department to develop, evaluate, revise and enhance curriculum and ensure mastery of material.
  • Collaborate with the Director of the department, department faculty and staff, as well as other college officials to assist with implementing college policies, objectives and functions in accordance with the SF mission, vision, goals, and strategic initiatives.
  • Participate in departmental and faculty meetings, committee work, as well as service to the college as requested.
  • Strictly honor the privacy, security and confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal and college regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Understand and appreciate high school students.
  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Reports to: Director, High School Dual Enrollment

 

Qualifications

Required: A Florida teaching certificate in Science (secondary grades 7-12).

 

Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be conducted.

 

Preferred: Teaching certifications in additional subject areas such as Chemistry, Biology, or Physics is preferred, as there may be other courses that will be added to teaching assignments. Three (3) or more years of high school teaching (within the last 10 years) is preferred.
