The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) of the Faculty of Science and Technology invites applications for the position of Associate/Assistant Professor whose research focus should be in the discipline of Remote Sensing for Marine Environment and Ecology for the newly established Centre for Regional Oceans.

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The emphasis of our programmes is directed to the areas of Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Engineering and Regional Oceanography. Currently, it has 22 full-time academic staff, around 220 undergraduates and 140 graduate students. UM is among the top 1% in ESI (Essential Sciences Indicators) rankings in Engineering. In the THE World University Ranks, the Engineering and Technology programme is ranked among the 101 – 125th.

The Centre for Regional Oceans (CRO) is a newly established research centre in the Faculty of Science and Technology with the purpose of advancing the ocean-related research of UM. In recent years, CRO has newly established 4 laboratories, namely Laboratory for Ocean Environmental Pollution Analysis and Assessment, Laboratory for Ocean Environmental Pollution Prevention and Remediation, Laboratory for Ocean Environmental Simulation and Modelling and Laboratory for Ocean and Atmospheric Research. CRO is expected to deliver impactful research in ocean environment, ocean ecology, coastal and offshore engineering.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in remote sensing or related areas. Preference will be given to candidates with specialties in remote sensing for coastal environment or for coastal resources and management.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in January 2023.

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP828,100 (approximately USD102,230) will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
