Director of Student Success/TITLE III Strengthening Institutions Project Director



Reporting to the Provost & Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Director of Student Success/Title III SIP Project Director is responsible for implementing NDMU’s Title III-support Specialized Technology to Advance and Renew Teaching and Learning (START-L) program. The START-L program includes: implementation of a comprehensive early-alert/case management system for student support; roll-out of a new Early College model, as well as accelerated-degree options; training and professional development for faculty and staff on technology and advising; and expansion of evidence-based academic enrichment resources and techniques to benefit NDMU’s traditional undergraduate population. This is a grant-supported, full-time position and is subject to the availability of funding post the end of the project (September 30, 2024).

Essential functions will include:

1. Provide leadership and coordination of all aspects of the Title III-funded START-L project, including personnel, programmatic, and fiscal management.
2. Maintain overall budget management of the project including monitoring grant-funded and institutionally-funded General Ledger lines related to the project, and reviewing and preparing appropriate spending requests for project expenses.
3. Produce required interim, final, and budget reports in coordination with project personnel, institutional leadership, and the University’s grant and business offices.
4. Regularly consult with the Title III Steering Committee; and coordinate and lead meetings of the Title III Working Group(s) to set project expectations, timelines, and deliverables as set forth in the program proposal.
5. Lead and/or coordinate periodic student success focused workshops and trainings for faculty and staff.
6. Provide leadership and support to grant Project Coordinators, Technology Coordinator, Tutoring Coordinator, and Case Manager to ensure established goals are being achieved.
7. Work collaboratively with a variety of institutional stakeholders to ensure effective change management consistent with the project goals.
8. Gather, analyze, and summarize evaluation data necessary for periodic, interim, final, and budget reports as required by internal and external stakeholders.
9. Ensure adherence to U.S. Department of Education statutory and regulatory grant requirements.

Job Qualifications
  • Education: Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university is required. A bachelor’s degree and additional years of relevant experience may substitute for the required education.

  • Experience: Minimum four (4) years of professional experience in higher education implementing student success initiatives, which includes at least one (1) year of supervisory experience, is required.

  • Skills/Aptitude:
    • Demonstrated experience implementing evidence-based strategies to drive student retention and success, including utilizing an integrated early alert/case management system.
    • Excellent project management, organizational, and documentation skills.
    • Ability to self-motivate/direct and manage multiple competing projects and deadlines.
    • Ability to lead workshops and trainings for diverse audiences.
    • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including strong report writing skills.
    • Experience working with grant-funded projects preferred.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) required.
    • Proficiency with Ellucian Colleague or similar ERP system preferred.
    • Proficiency with EAB Navigate or similar early-alert/case management software preferred.

  • Working Conditions: Normal office environment (walking, sitting, climbing stairs, reaching, etc.). Light physical demands such as bending, carrying, kneeling, lifting, and pushing may be required. Some weekend and evening hours may be required.
