Essential Functions (Job Duties)
Job Purpose:
Provides administrative support to the law School. Works under the supervision of Wayne Law's director of marketing and communications to improve the reputation of the Law School and to build and strengthen relationships with the local, regional and national legal and academic communities and the general public.
Essential Functions:
Write, edit and arrange the production of press releases, newsletters, and other informational pieces that advertise law school events and activities. Create weekly "experts" sheet for media with faculty who are available to address current issues. Research op-ed opportunities for dean and faculty to opine on hot topics in the news.
Monitor social media sources for Wayne Law related content and develop and manage the law school's social media presence.
Organize meetings with the Dean and faculty members to meet with opinion leaders, community groups, etc.
Identify faculty to participate in student recruiting events both on- and off-campus. Identify creative avenues to promote faculty scholarship, and alumni and student achievements.
Work collaboratively to update/create new videos and website content featuring faculty, student leaders, etc.
Prepare varied activity reports, summaries and statistical analyses.
Other duties as assigned.
Unique Duties
Qualifications
Education:
Associate's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Journalism or closely related field from an accredited college or university. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience:
Demonstrable knowledge of the Michigan legal community, volunteer leadership, excellent communication, marketing, public relations, interpersonal and computer skills. Preferred Qualifications: minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. Familiarity with the Associated Press Stylebook, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Computer Skills - Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially spreadsheets, database and reporting tools. Proficient in the use of electronic financial management systems
Communication Skills- Effective interpersonal and customer service skills
Analytical Skills - Ability to compare, contrast and quality check work and keen attention to detail. Can present numerical data orally and in writing or through graphics.
Results Orientation - Demonstrated strong organizational, communication and strategic thinking skills. Ability to work independently and with and through others to achieved desired results.
