Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Associate Dean, the Graduate Degree Evaluator is responsible for the interpretation and application of relevant policies and procedures to all aspects of the degree evaluation process. The Graduate Degree Evaluator must maintain a high level of accuracy in reviewing, interpreting, and communicating the use of graduate documents and policies to faculty and staff. The Graduate Degree Evaluator also responds to inquiries for general University information and graduate degree programs. The incumbent must utilize sound independent judgment, demonstrate initiative, and apply effective interviewing techniques, and communication skills.

FLSA: Non-Exempt

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,609 - $5,079 per month

Hiring Range: $3609 - $4175 per month

Salary Grade/Range: 1

Time Base: Full-Time

Pay Plan: 12 month

Work Hours: M-F 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (summer hours 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.) This is an on-site position. Telework not available at this time.

The Office of Graduate Studies, in partnership with the other colleges and departments at the university, provides leadership for the advancement of graduate education at Sacramento State. Graduate Studies supports the development and vibrancy of quality graduate programs, and serves the scholarly and professional needs of graduate students at the university and into their careers. The Graduate Center supports students along the entire process of the graduate student experience at Sac State; from undergraduates interested in graduate study to prospective students applying through graduation and all the steps in between.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of the format and interpretation of course records and transcripts of institutions of higher education; knowledge of authenticating course credits and comparing records of differing formats, such as foreign records; knowledge of campus curriculum requirements for majors, minors, terminal degrees, and special program designations, and knowledge of application of campus resource guidelines for making determinations using various criteria. Ability to be thorough, consistent and accurate in the interpretation of records against criteria; ability to comprehend and interpret complex regulations or requirements and to apply them in the evaluation process; ability to maintain resources which document and update criteria; ability to explain criteria and evaluations to others; ability to make accurate records; ability to organize work to meet deadlines; ability to safeguard the confidentiality and security of records. and Experience: Equivalent to completion of a formal training program in academic records evaluation OR one year of academic records evaluation experience OR any 12-month combination of training and experience related to academic records evaluation.
Required Qualifications
1. Experience in the analysis and application of academic regulations and procedures related to degree evaluation. 2. Experience related to academic curriculum and degree programs. 3. Ability to perform mathematical computations. 4. Experience with working in project management, building data in complex databases, and managing database operations. 5. Ability to solve complex problems, exercise independent judgment, and convey information to key stakeholders. 6. Experience where attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality are critical components. 7. Ability to use and operate a personal computer, reader/printer, copiers, printers, telephone, typewriter, calculator and fax. 8. Knowledge of communication techniques to clearly convey information in both written and verbal formats 9. Ability to evaluate situations and determine the best solution based on present policies and practices 10. Ability to work with Computer Programs, Systems and Databases.
Preferred Qualifications
11. Knowledge of policies related to graduate studies (Title V, CSU, CSUS). 12. Experience with working with the following technological programs/tools: CMS, OnBase, EAB, Cognos. 13. Experience reviewing documents for format requirements. 14. Experience delivering with public presentations.
