As part of UA, the Center for Alumni & Family Engagement seeks to create significant relationships between Bucknell and its alumni and parent communities to help secure resources necessary for the University to fulfill its educational mission.

The mission of Regional Strategy and Programs is to build support in key geographic areas by engaging constituents. Specifically, the Assistant Director, Regional Strategy and Programs, is responsible for developing the vision, management, and marketing of regional programs and events that encompasses both engagement and giving components, and fosters a high level of participation and meets the established metrics and goals developed for the program by building, guiding, and managing designated programs and events to keep constituents around the world connected to each other and to the University.

This position reports to the Director, Alumni and Family Engagement Programs, Center for Alumni & Family Engagement.

Job Duties:

  • Builds strategy of geographic areas to focus on programming and relationship building for CAFE.
  • Leads regional planning sessions for UA colleagues for education and coordination of programming regionally.
  • Serves as a resource for fundraisers and UA managers on geographic trends and activities in relation to Campaign and Presidential events.
  • Manages all aspects of the Regional Club Program, including operations, volunteer management, and event strategy.
  • Coordinates programming with other program managers to build a robust variety of in-person and virtual events such as academic, career, social, cultural and athletic.
  • Coordinates with Volunteer Management and Stewardship on volunteer tools, resources and constituent feedback.
  • Partners with the events team on event logistics such as selection of speakers, venue, menu, registration, marketing, etc.
  • Manages Bucknell Travel Program including vendor partnerships, trip schedules and marketing.
  • Serves as staff Liaison to Alumni Board Campus & Community Committee.
  • Manages regional budgets in partnership with Events Manager.
  • Facilitates relationships with stakeholders on campus (faculty, staff, and deans) and off campus (volunteers and venues).
  • Visits alumni and parents in designated regions to develop the volunteer pipeline, get event feedback and ideas, and inspire them to feel connected to Bucknell.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

This position will travel extensively (including air travel and travel to major metropolitan areas) with the responsibility of meeting with alumni, volunteers and staffing events.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree AND two years of proven success in volunteer management in a professional setting OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Two years of proven success in event planning
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with co-workers and constituents
  • Strong written communication skills and a clear, concise writing style, as well as strong editing, spelling, and grammar skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with ability to multitask
  • Demonstrates commitment to higher education and philanthropy
  • Proficiency of Microsoft Word and Excel and Google Workspace
  • Demonstrates management of and respect for confidential and sensitive information
  • Valid U.S. driver's license along with the energy and ability to travel (including air travel to major metropolitan areas), with the responsibility of meeting with alumni, volunteers, and executing events.

Other Requirements:
This position requires occasional evening and weekend work to support UA's events including blocks of time for major events such as Family, Reunion, and Homecoming Weekends, and other event support as required. Staff should mark their calendars for major events and events in their department. Exceptions require supervisory approval. Also required is a commitment to attend, participate, facilitate or lead on-campus and off-campus events/activities outside of normal business hours as appropriate.

State and federal background checks will be required to work at certain events.

Exempt Employees:
Exempt employees are required to work as much time as is necessary to fulfill the requirements of the position without additional compensation, even if the work is performed beyond standard work hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with Blackbaud, preferably the advancement CRM module

Physical Demands:
Some mild to moderate physical activity may be necessary.

This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt benefits-eligible position based in Lewisburg, PA.
