Job Summary:

This position is responsible for managing the print production department within the Office of Campus Services. A desired candidate will be able to lead an on-campus production team, producing print collateral for various clients at Miami while working within a creative workflow to ensure high-quality work is produced.

Core responsibilities include managing a digital press environment, purchasing supplies, tracking projects/resources and providing quotes to internal university departments. The desired candidate will be able assist tracking initial requests to the completion of printed items with delivery and/or installation. Graphic Design opportunities are available as a growth opportunity for this position. Design experience is not a requirement, but considered a desired qualification. This position will report to the Assistant Director of Creative of Campus Services.

Duties/Physical Demands:

● Works well with others in a team environment, driven to produce quality work while collaborating with Campus Services marketing team.
● Printing and installing environmental graphics
● Manages pre-press, print production and finishing of marketing collateral for the department of Campus Services and campus print jobs.
● Duties include (but are not limited to) inventory of materials, operating and maintenance of traditional and wide format printers, folding, cutting, laminating, and delivery of finished products to on-campus locations
● Knowledge of on-site vinyl installation (ground level and on a ladder)
● Ensure quality control and ability to complete rush orders
● Enter marketing requests into the current project management system (ShopVox)
● Complete weekly work-in-progress reports to track orders by clients
● Supervise student(s) on the production team
● Help Creative Director with student schedules for the department (6-12 students)
● Track production issues and establish ways to prevent them
● Proactivity plans the future growth of the production department
● Familiar with new marketing strategies with print media
● Occasionally attend special events outside scheduled hours as needed
● Troubleshoot file and software problems
● Review all work before it leaves the department

Minimum Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s Degree OR Associates Degree with 2+ years of experience in the print industry
● Past experience in the printing field (ie. traditional and wide format printers, folding machine, cutting machine, laminator) 

Desired Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience working at a commercial or university digital print center
• Familiarity with HP Latex wide format and Xerox printing
• Knowledge of Fiery Command software
• Print and digital graphic design experience. Growth opportunity for this position
• General knowledge of working within brand guidelines
• Knowledge of ShopVox, AirTable and Formstack software
• Understanding of color management and applying file adjustments
• Experience supervising students/interns to assist with production

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

● Comfortable using Adobe Creative Suite programs (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
● Understanding of design principles for proofing purposes.
● Ability to lift, pull, grab, or reach heavy items up to 30 lbs.
● Can be flexible and adapt to challenging situations.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
● Demonstrated ability to:
• Manage multiple projects and maintain a high level of productivity and quality
• Achieve success working without supervision and in a team environment
• Follow detailed instructions and retain information
• Troubleshoot technical issues in order to move forward with a project
• Learn new skills while maintaining the quality of all others
