Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The purpose of the instructional support is to increase and enhance the mastery of concepts or applications of a specific course of study for students. The Supplemental Instructor will participate in different types of support, to include but not limited to assisting students with Zoom, Moodle, and other course relevant technology; one-on-one, drop-in, and group tutoring sessions (conducted on Zoom). To be filled for the Fall 2022 semester.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  1. Facilitate learning as a guide and coach to assist students in developing academic learning competencies to become successful, independent learners.
  2. Deliver supplemental instruction in Brazilian Portuguese ECE110 (Child Growth and Development) and ECE 100 (Introduction to Early Childhood Education).
  3. Support and guide students through the access and use of course materials and technologies (Moodle, textbook, Zoom, etc.).
  4. Attend class each week and integrate effective study and learning strategies to maximize the student's potential for academic progress.
  5. Keep all information on student confidential, per the requirements of FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act).
  6. Submit electronic timesheet in Self Service Time & Attendance (SSTA) weekly, or paper timesheet, as required for payroll purposes.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.



Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

  1. Associate of Science degree in Early Childhood Education, or closely related field, with appropriate areas of concentration.
  2. Bilingual/fluent in English and Portuguese; effective communication skills and the ability to explain concepts to others clearly in both languages.
  3. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications, Zoom, and Moodle.
  4. The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
  5. Demonstrated familiarity with CCCC resources available to students.


ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field.

Additional Information:

COMPENSATION : $30.03 per hour up to 18 hours per week for 16 weeks. Part time, non-benefited MCCC Unit position.
