Job Description:

The Evening Access Services Supervisor performs duties in three areas essential to the Levin Library: safety, supervision, and operations. Working primarily with student workers in an oversight role, this person will be depended upon to provide leadership and training to a diverse team.  Additionally, they will also play an important role operationally, engaging in work such as interlibrary-loan fulfillment, reserves collection management, and the development of student training materials.  The Evening Access Services Supervisor will also help provide technology assistance during a time when such support is limited on campus, particularly academic technology used at Curry College such as Canvas[EKG1] , and others.  As the evening hours bring many Continuing Education (CE) students to the Library, this person will also regularly liaise with the CE department to better understand their evolving needs, as well as aid in the development of our services in relation to this student population.

Essential Functions:

1. Safety:

  • Liaises with Public Safety regarding evening security.  The presence of the Evening Access Services Supervisor is essential in ensuring students are not operating the library alone;
  • Enforces library policies and procedures and the appropriate use of Levin Library spaces. Resolves any problems and questions in this regard.  

2. Supervisory Oversight:

  • Assists the Circulation Manager to develop and administer training for student employees;
  • Assigns and monitors work for student employees; oversees schedule updates/corrections as needed;
  • Assists with collection maintenance and access support (print and electronic); and supervision of stack maintenance projects, such as shelf reading, inventory, and shifts.

3. Operational:

  • Provides informational assistance and acts as a resource to students, staff, and faculty;
  • Assists with interlibrary-loan fulfillment;
  • Provides evening technical assistance when support may be limited, particularly with software used by Curry students such as Canvas, the MyCurry Portal, Curry print management software, and more;
  • Processes and maintains library reserves and communicates with faculty about reserves as needed;
  • Instructs and assists students and faculty in the use of library equipment:  computers, online systems, printers, photocopiers, etc;
  • Acts as a point of contact to the Continuing Education department in order to better understand the populations evolving library needs.  Assists librarians in the development of services and programming to better serve CE students and faculty;
  • Provides light reference assistance;
  • Manages the electronic course syllabi file on the college network;
  • Participates, as appropriate, in scheduled library programming, assisting with visiting tour groups, and other events when requested;
  • Collects usage data as requested;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Functions:

  • Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director.

 

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • A minimum of two years of supervisory experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a variety of individuals.
  • Demonstrable computing, and troubleshooting skills and efficiency utilizing complex computing applications on the systems and programs of the College's choice; currently by way of example, Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Strong commitment to customer service.
  • Collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to push library cart filled with books and other materials.
  • Ability to follow-up, follow-through, multi-task, set priorities and adhere to deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with a variety of library and academic systems, databases, resources, a plus.

 

Experience with interlibrary loan service systems and functions a plus.
