The Associate Director of Leadership will research, plan, and implement leadership engagement opportunities for Syracuse University. They will provide oversight and supervision to four professional staff and one Graduate Assistant. This will include programming for Women’s Leadership Initiative, BOLD Leadership workshops, 44 Stars Award Gala, Hot Spots, Chat and Chews, SLICE, and additional opportunities. This person will also research and develop leadership opportunities for SU undergraduate population while fostering a community of growth and comprehensive learning around the areas of leadership, belonging, and personal development.
This person will design and implement educational programs, networking opportunities, and collaborative partnership around self-awareness, identities, and areas of growth. Will support and oversee professional staff team of 250 registered student organizations. Qualifications

- Advanced degree in Higher Education, student administration, counseling, or related field.
- 2-3 years experience in higher education and/or student affairs administration.
- 1-2 years’ of experience with leadership development and advising student organizations.
- Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, written, and oral communication/presentation skills.
- Experience working with a committee in researching, planning, and implementing successful late night campus events a plus.
- This position requires the ability to read, edit and negotiate artist and venue contracts and house riders.
- This position will also require a current and advanced knowledge of best practices as it relates to leadership, belonging, and engagement.
- A working knowledge of student development theory and the ability to work within a diverse constituency.
- Primary responsibility will be the oversight of the leadership program.
- Providing assessment efforts, learning outcomes, and institutional structures to support and expand a holistic leadership development experience for the undergraduate student population.
- Building out operational goals, bridging partnerships and identifying key skills that all Syracuse University student will graduate with.
- This role will be able to clearly communicate, assess and touchpoints to the leadership experience.
- Development of a mentorship program for undergraduate student interesting in growing their skills and leadership philosophy.
- Creating a metric to align first/sophomores with junior/senior leaders.
- Fostering networking opportunities and personal development on various topics of leadership.
- Building levels of buy-in and touch points throughout the program.
- Supervision of 4 professional staff and 1 graduate student and oversight of 250+ registered student organizations.
- Create a professional development program as part of their learning experience and provide them with responsibilities that enhances their professional skillset and personal growth.
- Oversight of the New Registration Program for Clubs and Organizations, and student media groups WJPZ, Citrus TV, WERW .
- Involvement Fairs: Coordinate, assess, and build upon the fall and spring involvement fair.
- Managing all communication, sign-ups, logistics, and invites throughout the process.
- Development follow up process to ensure new students are connecting to campus clubs and organizations they are interested in and fostering community connections.
