Description of Duties:

The Vice President for Finance and Administration serves as principal deputy to the SUNY Polytechnic Institute’s (SUNY Poly) Acting President in all administrative, managerial and business areas and thus is responsible for directing all but academic, student personnel and research affairs on campus.  The successful candidate is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the administrative functions and services of SUNY Poly including fiscal and budgetary systems, coordination and approval of contracts and procurement functions, campus technology and media support services, facilities operations and master planning, campus safety, and other administrative areas. The VP for Finance and Administration serves on the executive leadership team and coordinates programs on campus with the needs of the academic community, research programs, SUNY System Administration and the requirements of various Federal and State agencies.  Other reasonable duties as assigned.  This position has the authority to assist in determining, creating, affecting policy for SUNY Polytechnic Institute. The primary location for this position is in Utica with necessary travel to all operating locations. 

 

Minimum Requirements:

A Master’s degree in business or public administration from college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization and five years or progressively responsible experience in a management position.  A minimum of two years in a supervisory capacity.

 

The successful candidate must communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including writing complex proposals and producing written market-oriented material.  Demonstrated ability to effect innovative solutions to management and operational issues is required, as is the ability to analyze a wide variety of technical, business, and fiscal issues.  Skills to organize, direct, oversee, and lead complex operations is critical, along with ability to manage time effectively, resolve conflicts and organize work. Proficiency in the use of standard word processing, spreadsheet and communication software is also required.

Progressively responsible experience in management position in an educational setting.
