Talent Connections, LLC (www.talentconnections.net) has been retained to identify a Head of Total Rewards for Yale University.  As an active member of the senior leadership team, the Head of Total Rewards is responsible for leading Yale’s compensation programs for staff members, and the health benefits, retirement programs, and wellness efforts for all employees. This role will be responsible for supporting compensation administration and implementation for Yale’s various compensation programs. This includes areas related to compensation requirements, including position descriptions and evaluations, FLSA testing, salary administration and conducting compensation analyses. This position will assist with the implementation of compensation programs, helping translate strategy into results. Relocation assistance is available.

Role Highlights:

  • Develop a new staff job framework that has clear job families, creates relevant market matches, and highlights career paths for Yale staff members.
  • Develop the necessary priorities, infrastructure, and processes to ensure equitable pay for all employees regardless of gender, race, age, national origin, and ableness, among others.
  • Develop strong and collaborative partnerships with members of the other units within human resources.
  • Support the HR delivery model by ensuring that the Total Rewards team is fully operating within this collaborative framework
  • Ensure that the priorities and effort of the Total Rewards team is directly aligned with the most pressing needs of the schools and units throughout the university.
  • Prioritize transparency, efficiency, and a positive user experience for managers, employees, and Total Rewards team members regarding the compensation, benefits, and wellness programs
  • Partner with the offices of institutional equity, general counsel, and audit to ensure the compensation, benefits, and wellness efforts are in line with all appropriate regulations and requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 10 years of experience in talent acquisition or related areas
  • Demonstrated experience successfully leading teams
  • Experience working in a unionized environment preferred
  • Commitment to using change management principles
  • Ability to learn and understand how large and diverse organizations operate, beyond the area of human resources.  This includes an organization’s strategic priorities, culture, revenue, expenses, and regulatory requirements.
