Position Summary

Under the lead work direction of the Shuttle Coordinator, the incumbent operates various shuttle buses, vans and other UTAPS vehicles and assists with the coordination of the Hornet Shuttle program. The incumbent may also serve as an administrative resource to the Shuttle Coordinator and management.

FLSA: Non-Exempt

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3227 - $5840 per month

Hiring Range: $3227 - $4400 per month

Recruitment Type: Temporary/renewable. Reappointment is contingent on funding, work performance, and recommendation of supervisor. May become permanent under the provisions of the MOU.

Time Base: Full-Time

Pay Plan: 12 month

Work Hours: May be assigned M-F 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 pm OR M-F 9:00 am. to 6:00 p.m. in a semester rotation.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of the rules of safe driving and the provisions of the State of California Vehicle Code pertaining to operation of vehicles described in the appropriate classification; and State of California General Industrial Safety orders related to the assigned tasks of the classification, particularly those related to vehicle and equipment operation, construction methods and practices, and the lifting and moving of heavy loads.

Ability to operate assigned equipment safely; recognize safety hazards and follow practices and laws to insure safety; follow manuals and guidelines pertaining to operation of State vehicles; load and unload vehicles correctly and safely; follow oral and written instruction; read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other people; service and make routine repairs of equipment operated; and perform manual labor as required by the duties of the position.

Experience: Equivalent to one year of paid truck driving, automotive equipment operation, or bus driving experience, including operation of heavy trucks of three axles or more, or large loaders, forklifts or other equipment; or equivalent to one year of paid or regularly assigned driving experience, preferably involving bus driving or chauffeuring, or driving a car pool or other experience driving passenger carrying vehicles.
License: Possess appropriate license for each vehicle operated and may be required by the State of California Vehicle Code to carry appropriate certification while driving. Drivers of State-owned vehicles must maintain a good driving record* which will be checked periodically with the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Required Qualifications


1. Ability to obtain a California Class B Commercial Operator's License (with passenger and air brake endorsement) and medical certificate and maintain a good driving record.
2. Evidence of experience hiring, training and supervising other employees.
3. Evidence of experience in effective interpersonal communication skills both verbally and in writing.
4. Evidence of experience collecting, summarizing and reporting general and statistical data.
5. Evidence of experience coordinating the maintenance and repair of shuttle program vehicles and equipment.
6. Evidence of experience using a personal computer, preferably using Outlook, Word and Excel.
7. Ability to efficiently and accurately work on multiple projects at once and with a sense of urgency.
Schedule
8. Ability to work overtime on very short notice.
9. Ability to work occasional weekends.
Licenses
- Possession of a valid driver's license and maintenance of good driving record.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs maximum.
- Ability to wear appropriate PPE.
Conditions of Employment
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Ability to participate in pre-employment and random drug testing with negative results.

Preferred Qualifications

Evidence of experience coordinating or assisting in the coordination of the full scope of a shuttle bus operation, preferably in a college or university environment.

Required Licenses/Certifications
