Position Overview:

The Clinical Placement Coordinator facilitates and coordinates student clinical placement for the Department of Nursing. Plans, coordinates, and manages the clinical placement of nursing students with clinical partners. Interfaces with UCO Legal Office, department chair, and clinical agencies regarding all clinical contracts. Collaborates with faculty in obtaining clinical placement using a centralized placement system (currently myClinical Exchange). Works with faculty, staff, and students to ensure compliance with mandated clinical requirements (CPR, Vaccinations, etc.). May carry an instructional load of 3 to 6 hours per semester as needed. Represents the department at various meetings with clinical partners and other educational institutions.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:
  • Organizes and coordinates student placement in multiple courses and facilities
  • Ensures compliance with mandated clinical requirements
  • Communicates with faculty, students, and representatives from clinical partners and other institutions
  • Collaborates with faculty and staff to communicate with potential students
  • Coordinates onboarding of new students into the department; tracks student clinical experiences and placement throughout the program
  • Collaborates with faculty to identify and contract with new clinical partners
  • Collaborates with UCO Legal Office, department chair, and clinical agencies to secure and update clinical contracts.
  • Maintains positive relationships with new and prospective clinical partners
  • Manages multiple projects and priorities promptly
  • Maintains confidentiality and integrity
  • May teach 3 to 6 hours per semester as needed
  • Continually updates skills and knowledge relative to the position area

The College of Mathematics and Science currently has 135 full-time and over 70 part-time faculty in 7 academic departments. The College serves over 3,300 undergraduate students in 27 majors and provide graduate programs in Biology, Applied Mathematical Science, Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Computational Science, Computer Science, Engineering Physics, Data Science, and Nursing. Qualifications

Qualifications/Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent work experience in a field that provides the required knowledge of and exposure to the fundamental theories, principles, and concepts.
  • A minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing is required.
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Oklahoma.
Qualifications/Experience Preferred:
  • Master's degree in Nursing
  • Previous experience as an educator in a nursing program, classroom, and/or clinical setting
  • Previous experience with clinical placement systems preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Knowledge of clinical requirements of Oklahoma Board of Nursing and Nursing accreditation organizations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, human relations, and organizational skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and interact with all segments of the University and Healthcare communities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality; must be detail-oriented.
Supervisory and Reporting Relationships:

Reports to Nursing Department Chair and College of Mathematics and Science Dean.
