The Program for the Study of Women and Gender in collaboration with the Jandon Center for Community Engagement at Smith College invites applications for a two-year McPherson/Eveillard Postdoctoral Fellow and Lecturer: Study of Women and Gender / Community Engagement and Social Change, a benefits-eligible position for two years to begin July 1, 2022. Teaching responsibilities for this position are two courses per year to include one section of SWG/CCX245 Collective Organizing and one other course that will be dependent upon the candidate’s field of specialization in the field of women’s movements and feminist organizing. Candidates should have a strong foundation in the study of women and gender, community organizing, and community-based economic development. The Jandon Center focuses on university/community partnerships, community-based learning and research pedagogies, and methods to promote social change. Successful candidates should have some experience in these fields and pedagogies. A Ph.D. in a relevant field is expected by the time of appointment.

Strong applicants will have a focus on grassroots and/or locally driven approaches to tackling systemic inequalities and building structures of equity. The position will liaise with the Jandon Center team to support the Smith Alliance for Justice and Equity (SAJE) undergraduate fellowship. We are particularly interested in candidates who work in women of color feminisms, Black feminism, Native and indigenous studies, Arab American, Asian American and Latin@/x Studies; comparative work is welcome.
