Functional Application Specialists are responsible for understanding and transferring knowledge regarding how information systems support functional areas, the University, and its goals.
They understand the system configuration effects on ongoing business processes in their area of expertise.They provide application support, apply expert knowledge for deployment and administration of ERP processes.The Specialist will contribute to identifying, evaluating and selecting projects that will support University goals as well as demonstrate competent project management skills. Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in information technology, business, management or a related discipline and at least 5 years of relevant business experience are required.
  • Project management tools understanding and experience implementing projects in diverse organizations or in with a diverse set of stakeholders is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead/drive large and/or complex projects.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Slate and Peoplesoft Preferred.
  • Ability to work as an integral member within a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills along with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and partner with various levels of management and staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinates with Enrollment Services departments as well as Schools and Colleges to set the strategic plan and innovation of new system functionality and processes to ensure consistency and data fluidity across areas.
  • Accountable for identification, documentation, and escalation of risks, defects, and issues throughout the project life cycle.
  • Assure compliance to required standards and that all necessary approvals have been obtained throughout the project life cycle.
  • Serve as Senior product expert providing oversight, direction, and guidance to all product users. Participate as a subject matter expert for new strategic programs or initiatives impacting current and existing systems.
  • Acts as a strategic partner between the business community and IT development teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex data or transaction issues related to business applications. Engages successfully in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Identify, collaborate, and incorporate new functionality and enhancements through project management of product updates and process revisions, training faculty and staff, troubleshooting issues that arise.
  • Oversee support of product functionality in the areas of applications, event registration management, queries, form development, document management, communications, workflow maintenance, data uploads.
  • Reviews and evaluates proposals for new processes and systems to determine operational, functional, and technical feasibility; analyzes, investigates, and helps develop proposed solutions to business-sponsored initiatives; formulates, documents, and maintains business processes and procedures.
  • Interfaces with the business areas, customers, partners, vendors, technical staff, and project teams to drive value, return on investments and innovative solutions.
  • This includes providing alternative solutions, including vendor solution acquisitions, with maximum benefits while reducing cost (e.g., cost benefit analysis, pros/cons of solutions).
  • Analyzes and performs testing of upgrades, fixes, and the navigation infrastructure supplied by software vendors for functionality and efficiency.
  • Design and develop test strategies and test plans to ensure all business and technical requirements are met and ensure appropriate testing procedures are employed.
  • Drafts business case documents, specifications, and flow charting for changes to business processes due to software requirements.
