Assistant Professor of Biology



The College of Arts and Sciences at Shenandaoh University is in search of qualified applicants for an Assistant Professor of Biology.

Shenandoah University, a private, comprehensive university located 70 miles northwest of Washington, D.C., is committed to increasing the diversity of the university community and the curriculum. Faculty members are expected to participate in service to the university and the broader community, and are expected to be active scholars in their fields. The Department of Biology has a student-centered focus that includes advising and mentoring, and fosters the academic success of an increasingly diverse student population.

This full-time position will include teaching lower-division anatomy and physiology lectures and other elective courses to biology majors and students in related fields. The successful candidate will describe elective courses they would develop to complement the department’s strengths. Preference will be given to candidates who can expand the department's ability to provide research opportunities to undergraduates.

Qualifications:

The minimum requirement is a Ph.D. in the biological sciences completed by the appointment date (August 2022). Experience teaching Anatomy & Physiology is strongly preferred. Rank will be dependent upon qualifications and experience. This is a career contract position, although an appointment as a Visiting Assistant Professor may be considered.
