Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC) seeks a collaborative, forward-thinking leader to serve as the dean of the College of Science (COS).

COS offers degrees across three departments, including Life Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics, and Physical and Environmental Sciences. The COS faculty and staff bridge academics and research through interdisciplinary collaborations in classrooms, laboratories and in the field to create a more sustainable world. Teaching and research provide advanced knowledge and skills in a setting that emphasizes interaction among students and faculty. With approximately 1,750 students, including 1,560 undergraduate and 190 graduate students, COS consists of 105 full-time faculty (85 tenured/tenure-line and 20 professional-track faculty) and 50 staff members dedicated to excellence in both teaching and research. The college’s FY20 research funding was more than $4 million. Faculty affiliates in the Harte Research Institute received an additional $4.6 million.

TAMU-CC is a vibrant, relatively young doctoral granting university and Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI). With approximately 11,000 students from 47 states and 54 foreign nations and 1,318 faculty and staff, it combines a heritage of teaching excellence with innovation in research and community engagement. In late 2018, TAMU-CC achieved R2 Doctoral University-High Research Activity classification by the Carnegie Commission of Higher Education, which further promotes the university’s culture of innovation and research. The university has begun to strengthen and grow its infrastructure to support existing and promising new programs. Services and operations dedicated to student recruitment, retention and welfare will be expanded to meet increased student demands and enhance the educational experience for all. The university is engaged in a strategic planning process that will outline future goals for the institution beyond the current strategic plan, Momentum 20/20.

The successful candidate must have a terminal degree appropriate to the college from a regionally accredited university and academic credentials commensurate with the appointment to the rank of full professor. This individual must also have a record of progressive administrative experience in a higher education setting, among other qualifications.
