Preferred Qualifications 5-7 years of experience working in human resources, talent acquisition, or related setting Position Summary The Director for Talent Management leads broad efforts to recruit, hire, and retain diverse, qualified teams and optimize the overall employee experience in Student Affairs.

For recruiting, the Director leads training and supports senior leaders, hiring authorities, and search committees across Student Affairs and its departments to identify data-informed staffing needs and develop and execute inclusive recruitment plans and processes. In coordination with University Human Resources and division and department-based HR staff, the Director oversees hiring operations and systems, providing comprehensive guidance and support. This position also oversees wide-ranging efforts, including division-level onboarding, engagement, professional learning, competency development, and career pathways, to enhance the holistic employee experience, promote the retention and growth of high-performing employees, and advance a diverse and inclusive culture. In consultation with senior leadership, this position is responsible for developing and implementing appropriate HR policies and procedures related to HR matters for the Division.

The position supervises an Associate Director for HR operations, who manages the day-to-day HR tasks and serves as the Division’s HR Liaison and Faculty Affairs Liaison. The position also supervises the Student Affairs Staff Development Lead, who plans and leads the onboarding program for employees new to the Division of Student Affairs, provides workshops and training opportunities for professional development, plans annual employee recognition events and supervises the work of the Coordinator for Employee Experience.

The Director is a member of the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs and reports directly to the Associate Vice President.   • Familiarity with full-cycle recruiting, using various interview techniques and evaluation methods

  Duties/Responsibilities: Duties/Responsibilities Provide leadership for overall talent recruitment efforts in Student Affairs. · Direct an overall, data-informed hiring strategy to ensure Student Affairs teams consist of a diverse set of qualified individuals. · Work with Associate Vice Presidents in Student Affairs and other senior leaders on campus, including University HR, on efforts to advance the Division’s strategic plans and other diversity and inclusive excellence initiatives · Coordinate with senior leaders and hiring authorities to identify staffing needs and opportunities in different areas and departments. · Support hiring authorities and search committees in developing and executing recruitment plans and processes, including determining selection criteria, hiring profiles, and job requirements for vacant positions. · Provide training and guidance to senior leaders, hiring authorities, and search committees on inclusive recruiting strategies, including screening, interviewing, and mitigating bias. · Devise and implement sourcing strategies to build pipelines of potential applicants, including online company career portals, recruitment sites, job boards, social platforms, as well as print media, posters, and flyers, when optimal. Percentage of time 40 Duties/Responsibilities Oversee efforts to enhance the holistic employee experience, promote the retention and growth of high-performing employees, and advance a diverse and inclusive culture. · Oversee division-level onboarding efforts for incoming faculty, staff, graduate assistants, and student staff to welcome and acculturate new employees. · Lead initiatives, programs, and activities to foster a stronger sense of belonging and broad interaction among Student Affairs employees, including ongoing division events. Provide targeted resources and support to identified populations, particularly employees from underrepresented groups. · Direct division-wide staff education and training opportunities and resources to support employee growth and career pathways. Leverage education and professional growth opportunities through University Human Resources, as well as other University and external sources, including implementation of the learning management system (i.e. the Professional Education Portal), Engage and staff competencies initiatives in Student Affairs. · Oversee Student Affairs employee communications and recognition efforts, including formal and informal recognition initiatives. · Direct need and opportunity data collection and analysis, including employee recruitment, belonging, and retention. Conduct proactive check-ins and continually monitor internal feedback from employees to identify challenges and opportunities in the employee experience. · Coach and advise supervisors and leaders, providing robust support through all elements of the employee lifecycle. · Directly supervise the Student Affairs Staff Development Lead. Percentage of time 35 Duties/Responsibilities Direct hiring and operational processes that ensure a positive candidate and employee experience. · Review, create and/or modify HR policies and procedures within the Division to ensure they are current and reflective of best practices and UGA/Board of Regents policy. · Oversee actions for the full cycle of employment for divisional staff, including offer letters, relocation agreements, compensation and classification requests. Along with the Associate Director for HR operations, develop improved processes for the Division’s HR, payroll and position management functions and train/organize training related to UGA and Student Affairs systems, policies and practices for Division HR personnel. · Oversee faculty and staff position management for the Division of Student Affairs and work with department leadership to draft and update position descriptions. · Correspond with University HR office and advise, as necessary, HR practitioners within the Division on matters related to policy. · Directly supervise the Associate Director for HR operations. Percentage of time 15 Duties/Responsibilities Complete related administrative responsibilities and other duties as assigned. · Regularly assess intended outcomes of HR initiatives, utilizing assessment results for continued improvement and effectiveness. · Serve on campus committees, engage in meetings, and complete other duties as needed, in keeping with the responsibilities of the position.
