Clinical Instructor of Nursing

Position: The School of Nursing is seeking applications for a full-time non-tenure track Clinical Instructor position in the William Preston School of Nursing to begin August 2022. The clinical instructor will utilize their clinical experience to serve as an instructor, mentor, and role model and will provide clinical instruction for nursing students at various levels of learning in clinical, laboratory, or simulation settings. This position will require administrative duties to include clinical coordination, developing clinical schedules, and checking student compliance with clinical requirements.

Minimum requirements: Candidates must hold an unencumbered South Carolina registered nurse license with a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse.  The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.  Preference is given to those candidates with recent experience (within 5 years) in a medical-surgical nursing clinical setting and to those with experience in clinical instruction (within the last 5 years). Must be eligible to provide clinical instruction in agencies utilized by the School of Nursing.  A valid driver's license and safe driving history are required. Candidates must possess a current BLS certification.                                              

Knowledge, skills and abilities: Must exhibit professionalism along with good communication and people skills; proficient in the use of computer technology to conduct and support administrative and teaching activities.

Hire range: $47,000-$49,000                                                                                                                                              

Work hours: This position requires 37.5-hours per week, occurring Monday-Friday.  Depending on the needs of the School of Nursing, the days and hours of the week will vary by semester and may include 12 hour days.                                                      

Contract dates: August 15 –May 15 (9-months)
