Clinical Assistant Professor - Small Animal Surgery

The Veterinary Clinical Sciences department in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University, located in Ames, Iowa, invites applications for a full-time, clinical-track faculty position in the small animal surgery section of the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center (LVMC).  We are looking to complement our existing team of Board Certified veterinary surgeons in the areas of soft tissue, orthopedic or a mixed surgical focus. 

The selected candidate will be expected to perform the following duties:

• Collaborate with the current accomplished team of four veterinary surgeons and allied specialists to enhance an established small animal surgery section.

• Perform soft tissue, orthopedic, and/or mixed surgery and deliver exceptional patient care to companion animals.

• Teach university courses in small animal surgery to veterinary students and teach clinical surgical rounds for veterinary residents, technicians, and house officers.      

• Contribute to the enhancement of the national prominence of the surgery and other sections practicing in the LVMC through scholarship.

• Contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and outreach.

• Exhibit and convey good citizenship within the program, the department, college, university activities, and collegial interactions.

• Maintain the highest standards of integrity and ethical behavior.
