Position Purpose
To support The Department of Epidemiology at Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth in achieving its mission to conduct rigorously constructed research and apply state-of-the-art and novel methods and technologies to advance the field of epidemiology and impact human health and disease. In collaboration with project leaders, the Recruiting Coordinator will conduct in-person or remote (i.e. telephone and/or email) recruitment and scheduling of study participants for a large National Institute of Health ( NIH ) funded Environmental influences on Children’s Health Outcome ( ECHO ) birth cohort study

Required Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in health or social sciences, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• One to two years’ experience as a study coordinator in a comparable setting.
• One to two years’ experience recruiting and interviewing research participants or other comparable experience.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate a complex research project with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated high degree of independence and responsibility for ensuring timely completion of project activities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and web-based applications.
• Ability to apply critical thinking and sound judgment to address open-ended problems.
• Superior verbal communication and writing skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
• Must complete educational requirements for Dartmouth Committee on the Protection of Human Subjects ( IRB ) upon hire.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
· Knowledge of research methodology, protocols, and data collection methods.
· Ability to implement research and data collection protocols.
· Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Particular knowledge of maternal and child health would be helpful.
· Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills permitting effective recruitment and interaction with participants, medical and administrative staff at study sites, and other study personnel.
· Outstanding organizational skills and ability to work independently and take initiative, balance competing demands, schedule and plan efficiently and effectively to coordinate with participating clinic staff, meet participant recruitment goals, and coordinate with other study personnel.
· Ability to work well as a team member and to exercise discretion, judgment, tact, and diplomacy.
· Proficiency and skill with computer databases and software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel and REDCap.
· Knowledge of laboratory procedures, research methods, and protocols and/or willingness to be trained.
· Meticulous attention to detail and confidentiality.
· Knowledge of HIPAA and patient privacy regulations.
· Knowledge of regulations related to the protection of human subjects and informed consent.
· Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in degree in health or social sciences or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and reading and reviewing medical records.
• Ability to speak Spanish or some knowledge of the Spanish language.

Key Accountabilities
Description
Recruitment, Interviewing and Study Coordination
· Responsible for recruitment/enrollment of study participants remotely and/or in person.
· Coordinates, schedules, and completes recruitment activities using established study protocols. The study has complex design with recruitment and scheduling of study participants at multiple timepoints. Recruitment and scheduling require that calls are made at varying hours of the day and all days of the week, including evenings and weekends.
· Follows an established and secure infrastructure for conducting recruiting and scheduling and communicates efficiently and in real time with site-based study staff.
· Follows the processes that are in place for monitoring of recruitment goals, regular reporting and tracking mechanisms for completion of recruitment and scheduling and accounting for other coordination tasks.
· Provides education and instruction to participants on informed consent, study materials, collection of samples, measurements, and follow up processes according to protocols.
· Implements the research activities including distribution and completion of surveys, data collection and management, subject identification, and recruitment, interviewing and scheduling, and medical record review.
· Maintains working relationships with medical and administrative staff at collaborating clinics to coordinate recruitment activities.
· Maintains high level of research professionalism to maintain participant engagement and retention as well as relationship with collaborating clinics and staff.
· Conducts necessary follow up activities as needed and coordinates with laboratory and other study personnel to assure specimens and measurements are collected, processed, entered into databases and delivered according to protocol.
· Assures that data are successfully collected and managed.
· Assures that subject and data confidentiality is maintained, and data integrity is maintained.
· Enters accurate study data in establish database in a timely manner according to protocols.
· Maintains close communication with study research directors and other study staff regarding study progress, processes, collection, and delivery of samples and needed supplies and materials.
· Generates pertinent reports on a monthly or as needed basis.

· Participates in monthly and as needed conference calls with the Research Director and as needed with the PI for the study for supervision and oversight.
· Submits detailed written reports of the following information:
· Number of calls and emails sent for each recruiting/scheduling timepoint
· Percentage of time spent on each recruiting/scheduling timepoint and percentage of time spent on administrative tasks (reporting, logs, tracking, coordination with on-site staff)
· Amount of time spent on each activity and the dates of the activities.
