The Case Manager supports students and their families to manage crises, life traumas, and other concerns or barriers that impede success. This is a specialized position which blends collaboration and consultation with colleagues in the schools/colleges, health care providers both on and off campus, Title IX investigations/criminal investigations, as well as other support resources with functions of non-clinical student consultation, coordination of student referrals, systems development for reporting and maintenance of student cases, and leadership in addressing factors which contribute to student attrition and improve student success.

The Case Manager will work to address the needs of students who struggle in such areas as sexual assault, relationship violence, psychological health, physical health, crime victimization, economic concerns, and social adjustment through a variety of interventions, referrals, and follow-up services.

The Case Manager will respond to daily case management functions including but not limited to: student emergencies; consults with members of the University Community; and parent/student inquiries and concerns. The Case Manager will assist with programming groups related to Student Outreach and Retention as well as within the Student Experience portfolio. Qualifications
  • Required: Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Higher Education Counseling. At least two year’s of full-time professional experience.
  • Preferred: At least 1-3 years’ experience in case management, preferably in a higher education setting.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Experience utilizing student development and/or case management models to aid in the personal growth and development of college aged individuals.
  • Demonstrated skills in a variety of crisis/student support related areas such as: psychological distress, issues related to several medical concerns, food-insecurity, home-insecurity, academic difficulty, identity, substance abuse, eating disorders, adjustment, etc.
  • Experience working with student victims and respondents of sexual assault and relationship violence.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws applicable to position including but not limited to FERPA, Title IX, Title II.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of conflict mediation and crisis de-escalation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Proven excellence in time management and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems, as well as handle a large case load of students.
  • Good judgment and ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence and inclusiveness in working with populations of diverse cultures and identities in addressing issues of accessibility, inclusion, health, and social justice.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as a case manager addressing the needs of students in distress. Assess the holistic needs of students to facilitate supports beyond immediate crisis. This includes but is not limited to: mental health issues, physical health issues, basic needs, victimization, Title IX issues and processes, disciplinary process, bias/hate related issues, life traumas, and any other barriers that may impede a student’s success.
  • Manage and deliver office processes including but not limited to: records management, leaves of absence, readmission, absence notification, and Title IX procedural guidance.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures including but not limited to outreach and education, the procedural advising process, campus wellness initiatives, departmental publications, and web content.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local treatment providers, hospitals, victim advocate resources, and law enforcement agencies as appropriate to supporting students.
  • Establish and foster relationships with campus partners within Student Experience and across the University community, including home school/colleges, to establish ongoing collaborations for the early identification and intervention with at-risk students or students in distress.
  • In the absence of the SOaR leadership team, provide support as instructed by the Student Experience Senior Leadership in responding to campus crises. This may include being present on campus on nights or weekends as needed.
