Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Learning and Development, the Learning and Development Specialist is responsible for supporting Organizational Effectiveness and Development ( OED ) as a subject matter expert. Provides expertise in teaching and learning pedagogy and practices or higher education organizational development.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Performance Requirements*
  • Designs, develops, and implements strategic learning and development programming
  • Researches, creates, and customizes professional quality Professional Development (PD) materials for delivery
  • Reviews instructional materials from a variety of vendors and chooses appropriate materials based on intended session goals and objectives
  • Evaluates and updates practices, designs, and instructional materials and delivery methods to keep current with modern technologies
  • Utilizes knowledge of adult learning styles, instructional design, group dynamics, interactive learning methods, quality improvement processes, and group process facilitation to enhance program portfolio
  • Delivers small and large-group professional development sessions in an engaging manner to a range of audiences using a variety of instructional approaches and delivery methodologies
  • Integrates assessment tools as appropriate into learning and development offerings
  • Identifies opportunities to supplement instructor-led PD with e-learning content
  • Partners with staff, faculty, team members, and other stakeholders to ensure program alignment and effectiveness
  • Provides consultation and support services to leaders and designs custom solutions based on need
Service Excellence
  • Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through the Tarrant County College ( TCC ) Institute
  • Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation, and creativity and service to the College
  • Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College
Supervision
Works under the general supervision of the Director of Learning and Development

*Performs Other Related Tasks as Required

Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree
  • Three (3) years’ working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree or certificate in learning & development, instructional design, or organizational/talent development
  • Experience leading faculty development, organizational development, and/or diversity, equity, and inclusion programming
  • Experience facilitating and producing live, online development sessions
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of core learning theories, frameworks and assessments, and ability to use these in a practical way
  • Knowledge of instructional design software
  • Skilled in learning facilitation with varying audience levels
  • Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships with diverse populations, including strong listening, verbal, and written communication
  • Skilled using enterprise systems, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and a setting that is diverse and urban
  • Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume
  • Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations while exhibiting strong attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to delegate work appropriately to faculty and staff to meet College and campus deliverables
