Research Aide - Extension Seed Potato Program
Location: Idaho Falls

Position Summary:
The research aide performs pre-established research procedures. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Works under general supervision. Performs research activities and other tasks as necessary in a research environment. Records observations and measurements and reports results. When applicable, is responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining research space and equipment, and assists with receipt and inspection of raw materials along with ordering and stocking of materials and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Degree or equivalent.
- Collecting and recording data following pre-established procedures or protocols.
- Using a computer to collect and record data.
- Accomplishing goals or completion of projects in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in an agricultural, biological or applied science or related field.
- Hands-on experience through coursework, employment, internships, fellowships or similar educational opportunities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Thorough computer skills, including experience with Word and Excel.
- Willingness and ability to take direction and follow instructions, work on own initiative and unsupervised, work as a team member, and interact professionally and with a positive attitude with colleagues.
- Experience with molecular techniques such as nucleic acid extraction, PCR or qPCR.
- Ability to operate, maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot and resolve basic problems with lab and field instruments and equipment.
- Experience keeping accurate records.
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Physical ability to perform assigned duties, bend, walk through potato fields after row closure and carry, lift or otherwise move heavy materials (50 lbs or more).

- A valid driver’s license and ability to drive to remote places
