Position Summary:
Dr. Paul Rowley seeks a self-motivated and enthusiastic research specialist to manage the day-to-day running of the Rowley lab. This position will be responsible for performing scientific experiments in support of general laboratory research goals of understanding infectious disease and also manage students within the Rowley lab.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in microbiology or related field; or experience totaling at least 3 years in laboratory setting
  • Following pre-established procedures or protocols
  • Analyzing scientific data
  • Keeping complete and accurate records
  • Working in a team environment


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and willing to apply their skills and to learn new techniques to tackle important biological problems related to infectious disease.
  • Prior experience working in the biological fields of microbiology, virology or cell biology.
  • Experience in producing written documents relevant to the communication of laboratory results, including scientific papers, conference abstracts, progress reports.
  • Good knowledge of basic laboratory techniques, including cell culture and molecular biology.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to perform a variety of specialized tasks and laboratory techniques specific to the needs of the position.
  • Understandings and practices safe laboratory working practices and record keeping.


Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
  • Ability to perform assigned laboratory duties; may be required to work with potentially infectious biological materials (including viruses and infected biological materials), and potentially toxic, volatile, corrosive chemicals and/or carcinogenic substances in a laboratory setting..
