Assistant Director, Campus & Event Safety & Security


Location: Moscow

Pay Range: $54,365 or higher depending on experience

FTE: 1

Position Summary:
The Assistant Director, Campus & Event Safety/Security has a dual reporting line to the Director of Administrative Operations and the Executive Director of Public Safety & Security. This position is responsible for implementing university and department policies and procedures directly related to safely operating multi-use facilities on a day to day and event operations basis as well as providing safety & security services to the university campus community. This position strives to continuously seek opportunities for improvement related to campus safety & security. Work schedule - Monday through Friday (may vary weekly due to major events).

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
2 years of progressively responsible experience evaluating, creating, and implementing in the following areas:
  • Safety and security operations and best practices.
  • Event security screening practices (i.e., metal detection, clear bag screening, etc.)
  • Safety and security needs based upon potential safety and security risk factors.



2 years experience:
  • Working collaboratively with a multitude of stake holders with conflicting interests and goals.
  • Establishing, documenting and implementing training programs and policy/procedure.



Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree in public safety, organizational training/leadership, etc.
  • Experience operating, programing and maintaining metal detectors.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.


Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
  • Ability to lift and/or otherwise move items weighing approximately 50 lbs.
  • Bending, stooping, shoveling, and comfortable working at significant heights.




Required Licensures, Certifications or other
  • Required to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed to meet business needs of the office.
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to meet the University of Idaho’s driving requirements
